Way back in 1969,the future Dr. Gail Weingast obviously had no clue about her destiny, to become a world-class radiologist. That’s because her first degree was in Spanish, with nom pre-med in sight. These days, Dr. Gail Weingast is highly regarded as she serves as a radiology specialist with a phenomenal reputation at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. At that hospital, Dr. Weingast is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging and in her 20 years there, she has brought her radiology department into prominence, as one of the finest in New England.

While her path may seem a bit circuitous in hindsight, Dr. Gail Weingast values every aspect of her journey, since all of it contributed to making her the doctor she is today. Soon after earning her degree in Spanish from Tufts University, something must have changed her mind, because she attended the Boston University School of Medicine, and officially became Dr. Gail Weingast MD by earning her medical degree in 1976.

Of course, as is always the case for doctors, that was not the end of Dr. Gail Weingast’s education, but the beginning. Following medical school, Dr. Gail Weingast completed a pediatrics internship from 1976-1977 and then followed that up by completing a pediatrics residency over the subsequent two years. Still under the auspices of Colorado General Hospital in Denver, she also completed a residency in radiology from 1980 to 1983 and a fellowship in the field of ultrasound in 1983. Dr. Weingast managed to complete her post-graduate studies as a radiologist from 1983 to 1984 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, which is also located in Denver.
